Brand Profile: OPI and Nicole by OPI

This is a new type of post I will be doing, at least weekly, to add more consistency to my blog. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated 🙂

From Wikipedia article on OPI

OPI is arguably the biggest and most influential professional nail polish manufacturer in the world. OPI, originally a dental supply company called Odontorium Products Inc., was founded in 1981. The company was bought out and eventually closed down the dental supply sales and focused on selling nail products, then changing the name to OPI Products Inc. They originally only sold acrylic, but expanded to include lacquers and other products. The actual OPI brand are polishes like the San Francisco, Euro Centrale, and new Brazil collection. OPI was the first to introduce UV manicures that use gel polish and also created the first “shatter” effect polishes. They have created special shades for charities like Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the American Heart Association.

“Nicole by OPI” is their drugstore brand where the celebrity and pop culture collections are sold. Throughout their years, they have collaborated  to create new collections and endorse with tons of other companies, brands, movies, actors, and singers like Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber (one of the first to release a celebrity nail polish line for OPI),Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Modern Family, Gwen Stefani, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and many more.

I have 4 minis from the San Francisco collection and another 4 from the Kardashian collection. I love OPI because of the crazy amount of colors they offer, and also because they have changed the nail polish world single-handedly by creating new and unique ideas that lots of other famous brands have picked up for themselves (specifically the gel and UV manicures and “shatter” effects.

Let me know if you like OPI in the comments!
