3 Ways to Be Inspired

Lately I’ve been in a rut when it comes to looking for design ideas. It’s always nice to come up with original art, but more often than not I just don’t feel very creative. Tutorials are fun but sometimes its nice to come up with your own work. So here are some ways to find inspiration to create your own original ideas to share with you. 1. Look in your closet. You have a closet full of clothes. Take a look and find patterns, details like studs, embroidery, ect. to incorporate into your original nail art. An army jacket can be easily replicated onto your nails; a studded-collar blouse can be remade with 3D nail rhinestones. Or ask the fashion industry: Vogue says cute gingham, bold floral and golden Bohemian styles are trending for spring 2015. Who says trends are just for clothes?

2. Go for a walk. What season are we in? We’re still in winter, but it wouldn’t hurt to get a head start on spring. I associate spring with flowers and other nature; keep an eye out for bright blooms while out and about. Day trips to parks, gardens, and even the farmer’s market with friends can make looking for inspiration fun. Colorful trees and the sky can also be inspirational; it all depends on how you use your imagination.

3. Follow a #nailart tag on Instagram or Tumblr. The internet is obviously a great place for information and inspiration. Websites based on sharing ideas, like Tumblr and Pinterest, can be a great place to find others’ ideas and imitate with your own twist or build on them. Through Pinterest you can discover board after board for nail art so I recommend there as a place to start. Personally I follow #nailart right here on WordPress to look for new blogs to follow or other people’s designs.

Let me know some other ways YOU find inspiration for your nail art in the comments, and I’ll see you on Wednesday! 🙂
